Let’s start with my all-time favorite, the question I was asked before being hired for a job I should never have taken…
“If I were to ask you to weigh Pikes Peak (a 14,000+ mountain near Colorado Springs), how would you do it?”

- If you had to pick up Pikes Peak and weight it, how would you go about doing that?

- How do you manage your time on a typical day?
- How do you set priorities?
- What obstacles and challenges have you overcome?
- What habitual patterns have you changed and why?

I’m guessing the asker of the Pikes Peak question was looking for your problem-solving skills, particularly when faced with an “impossible” task. As I’ve learned in marketing, it’s important to find out first “Why do we need to know? What do we hope to accomplish with this information?” before embarking on weighing the impossible.
